Lane Engineering, Inc. was / is responsible for the following tasks relating to the Eastern Lee Water System Project: (1) Prepare Preliminary Engineering Report and Environmental Assessment for regulatory agency review and approval, (2) Identify and prepare project funding applications, (3) Identify and prepare required environmental permit applications, (4) Submit design and hydraulic analysis documents to the Virginia Department of Health, (5) prepare construction plans and specifications, (6) Assist in identifying and securing temporary / permanent easements, (7) Perform resident project representation services and (8) Execute construction administration tasks. The Project includes installation of approximately 126,000 linear feet of 8- and 6-inch diameter waterline throughout the communities of Deep Springs, Olinger and Seminary in eastern Lee County, Virginia, providing safe, potable water to approximately 360 residences. The project also includes construction of a 150,000 gallon water storage facility, a water booster pumping station and related water valves, fire hydrants and system appurtenances. Project funding was provided by the following: Virginia Department of Health’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund ($980,000 grant, $1,002,000 loan), U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Development ($950,000 grant, $351,000 loan) and the Virginia Department of Housing & Community Development’s Community Development Block Grant Program ($700,000 grant).
